As we continue to work hard to finish the month of May and enter June, we are extremely busy in the classroom!! We worked to complete day 2 of Centers this morning. Students wrote their TWAS for last week as the short week threw me off last week ;)

We discussed the various types of clouds today in Science. We watched a short video then tried to be detectives and use the clues in the names of the clouds to match them to their descriptions. The students did a wonderful job with this.

The Measurement math test was returned to the students today. Please sign and return for tomorrow. I will have an updated Markbook for Math shortly. We started our next unit, Geometry, but discussing various attributes of shapes. If students did not get the activity finished in class, it is homework tonight.

The day wrapped up with Phys Ed and Read Aloud.

The students were introduced to a new set of Centers this morning and continued to work on their author studies. Just a reminder....students are to complete an activity each time they read a chapter. Students are not to leave all of the activities until the end as they will have to then reread the book to focus on each chapter.

After recess, we worked through math stations. 1) Capacity review, 2) Connecting capacity to volume, and 3) Computers.

The students then had library with Mrs. Schentag.

We wrapped up our Math stations after lunch as we ran out of time in the morning.

The students finished the day with French and Phys Ed.

We wrapped up day 4 of Centers this morning. The students are continuing to work on their author studies. Please remember that this activity is due June 15.

After recess, we completed 4 stations in Science. Students worked through various stations discussing hot and cold air, and the sun.

We continued to discuss capacity today in Math. Students worked on using the mililitre to measure capacity. We also practiced using perimeter.

Our day came to a close with Phys Ed and read aloud.

We wrapped up day 4 of centers this morning.

After recess we worked through 3 stations in 6+1 Writing. 1) Computers. 2) Students began to plan, using a graphic organizer, a "Sticker Story." 3) We discussed how to make sentences more fluent by combining 2 shorter sentences.

We continued to work on our Author Studies during Day 3 of Centers this morning.

After recess, we worked on area and perimeter during Math Pods. We will continue with these concepts.

The students then had library with Mrs. Schentag.

After lunch, we discussed one of our last explorers, Samuel Hearne.

The students finished their day with French and Phys Ed.

We kicked off the week with a new set of centers. Great job today boys and girls!

After recess, we worked through three math stations. 1) Computers. 2) Calculating perimeter. 3) Introduction to area.

We then discussed a punctuation activity that we completed last week.

In Social Studies, we completed a short activity in regard to Simon Fraser.

Students then had French and Phys Ed.

Lastly, students put their finishing touched on their complex machines. We will be presenting them tomorrow!

We wrapped up day 4 of Centers this morning. The students continued to work on their Gordon Korman author studies. Remember...these are due June 15.

After recess, we discussed the explorer Henry Kelsey and completed a few questions.

The students then had Art with Mrs. Schentag.

We completed Math Pods after lunch. 1) Students worked in partners to play a perimeter game. 2) Students corrected yesterday's assignment and continued to practice perimeter. 3) Computers.

Our day came to an end with Phys Ed and Read Aloud.

We completed Day 3 of Centers this morning. The students are continuing to work on their author study. Remember...the due date for this project is June 15.

Students will be writing their division Math Exemplar tomorrow. Please try to your best to make sure that your child is at school.

We worked through Math pods. 1) Students worked with the geoboards to construct different rectangles with given perimeters. 2) Students corrected measurement activitites. 3) Computers.

The students then had Phys Ed and Read Aloud to complete the day.

We enjoyed a visit from "Angels of Hope" during our morning assembly.

After recess, we completed Math Pods. At station 1, students continued to review measurement. At station 2, students were introduced to perimter and how to use a geoboard to help construct rectangles with a given perimeter. The third station was on the computer.
Students were also given their Math tests. Please return these signed for tomorrow.

The students then headed down to the library with Mrs. Schentag.

After lunch, we watched a short video on Samuel de Champlain. The unit tests were also returned to the students. Please return these for tomorrow as well.

We wrapped up the day with French and Phys Ed.
