We started a new set of Centers this morning. Just a reminder to those students that have missed a day or two of school...please get your center activities in to either Mrs. Gale or myself as quickly as possible.

Room 20 had Art with Mrs. Schentag for the remainder of the morning.

After lunch, we worked demonstrating what a decimal looks like.

Students then headed down to French and Phys Ed completed our day.

I was away for the last two days at a wonderful conference in Saskatoon. Sorry for the missing posts.

We wrapped up Day 4 of Centers this morning. Students handed in their activities and will start with a new set tomorrow.

After recess, students used the entire writing period to finish their narrative writing piece. Those students that did not get finished were to take it home for homework and hand it in tomorrow morning.

We worked through 3 stations in Math. At teacher table, we worked through the corrections we had from the last two days. Students also worked on a bit of a review of writing decimals in words, numbers, and as fractions.

Our day ended with Phys Ed.

A new set of Centers were introduced this morning. The students also wrote their Spelling Test for this week. TWAS were also written.

We worked through Math Pods today as well. The three stations were 1) Computers, 2) Drawing a garden, including 5 different vegetables, and writing the fraction to represent, and 3) converting fractions to decimals, and vice versa.

The students continued to work on their narrative stories during 6+1 Writing.

After lunch, we also had some time to edit our expository writing pieces in Social Studies. Students should be ready to begin their final draft next class.

The day ended with French and Phys Ed.

The students wrapped up Day 4 of Centers today. All of the activities were collected as we will start new tomorrow. Please remember to review your spelling words for tomorrow's test.

After recess, we continued to work on our Social Studies expository piece. The students should have their rough drafts completed and at least 5 details added and 5 words changed for word choice. We will work on editing next class.

The students then had Art with Mrs. Schentag.

We wrote our Fractions unit test after lunch.

Our day wrapped up with Phys Ed.

Our Wednesday morning started off with Centers.

Students then headed to Art with Mrs. Schentag.

After lunch, students completed an individual problem solver, practicing the skills we used yesterday.

The students then had French with Mrs. Orosz.

We then continued to work on our rough draft for our First Nations expository pieces.

Day 2 of Centers kicked off our Tuesday morning.

Students began working on their Narrative writing piece in 6+1 Writing. The students completed their planning for this piece during Centers last week. We completed our rough drafts today. If students didn't get finished, the draft was homework.

During Math, students corrected their unit reviews. We then completed a problem solver as an entire group, then with a partner. Students will complete their individual problem solver tomorrow.

Our day finished up with Phys Ed and Read Aloud.

We started off the new week with a new set of Centers. Students were also given their Lesson 22 Spelling words. The spelling test will be on Friday, March 23. New book baskets were also set out in the classroom and the students are very excited for the new genres.

After recess, we worked on corrections in Math. Students were also given their unit review for the Fractions unit. Our unit test will be on Thursday, March 22. The review is due for tomorrow and is homework if students didn't get through it in class.

The students then headed down to the library to exchange their books.
After lunch we continued to work on our expository pieces for Social Studies. Students are to have their introduction, First Nations groups, shelter, and food paragraphs in rough draft format ready for tomorrow.

We wrapped up the day with French and Phys Ed.

* Remember book orders are due on Wednesday.

Our day started out with Day 3 of Centers. Spelling test is tomorrow so look over your words tonight.

After recess, we worked through 3 stations in Math. 1) Computers. 2) Equivalent Equations. 3) Corrections.

We then continued to work through our Social Studies expository pieces. Students are to have their first two paragraphs completed in a rough draft form for next class.

Students then had French and Phys Ed.

We closed out the day with an activity which reviewed simple machines.

Sorry about missing the last few days of posts. My family is now on the mend from the awful flu that seems to be running around.

The students enjoyed a wonderful assembly this morning. Students worked on some Math corrections and independently read when they returned to the classroom.

After recess, students continued to work on their introductory paragraphs of their expository piece in Social Studies. We will continue with our next paragraph tomorrow.

We started off our afternoon with Math Pods. We worked through 3 stations. 1) Computers. 2) Equivalent fractions using manipulatives. 3) Solving equivalent fractions using multiplication and division.

We wrapped up the day with Phys Ed and Read Aloud.

We wrapped up our week by wrapping up Day 4 of Centers. Students will start a new set on Monday. Please remember that if you are absent from school, it is your responsibility to get your assignments into myself or Mrs. Gale.

We worked through 3 stations in math after recess. 1) Computers. 2) Ordering fractions on a number line. 3) Fraction review.

The students then had library with Mrs. Schentag.

After lunch, we started working on our expository writing pieces about a First Nations group of Canada. Students collected the information during Centers and will use this to help them write their piece.

The day wrapped up with French and Phys Ed.

After recess, we worked through 4 stations in math. 1) Computers. 2) Comparing fractions using fraction circles. 3) Comparing fractions using a fraction chart. 4) Using a number line to represent a fraction.

We completed Day 2 of Centers this morning.

After recess, we worked on 3 stations in Math. 1) Computers, 2) comparing 2 fractions using various manipulatives, and 3) ordering fractions using a fraction chart.

We then continued to work on our Metis paragraphs. Most students are at the editing phase.

Students wrote their Social Studies unit test after lunch, before heading to French with Mrs. Orosz.
Students then had Phys Ed with Mr. Leidl.

We finished off our day by organizing our Social and Science binders.

Welcome back to another week! The students wrapped up Centers this morning. All activities were collected. Students were also given Lesson 20 Spelling words.

We headed to Art after recess.

Students were introduced to fraction bars after lunch. Students used these bars to compare different fractions, indicating less than, equal too, or greater than.

We then had French with Mrs. Orosz and Phys Ed with Mr. Leidl.

We wrapped up the day working on our unit review for Social Studies. The review is due tomorrow. Remember, the unit test is Wednesday, March 7.

We completed Day 3 of Centers this morning. The students wrote their spelling test for Lesson 19. We also wrote our TWAS.

After recess, we continued to work on our Metis Buffalo Hunt paragraphs. Students took the 5 sentences they created earlier and are now pieces them together to form a paragraph. We also started to concentrate on the editing marks and conventions within our rough drafts.

We also wrote our long division quiz to start out our afternoon. We then completed a short activity where the students created a fraction and had to indicate the fraction they created.

The day wrapped up with Phys Ed and Read Aloud.

The students completed Day 2 of Centers this morning. Remember to study for your spelling test tomorrow.

After recess, we completed Math Pods. Students 1) practiced basic division facts, 2) practiced long division using the place value strategy, 3) played MathFrog on the computer.  Remember, we are having a short division test tomorrow on the long division strategy of using place value.

We then headed down to the library to exchange our books.

Our afteroon was spent finishing up our Benefits of Treaties chart in Social Studies. We will be having a unit test on Wednesday, March 7.
