Happy Halloween

Students were given Lesson 8 spelling words (restaurant, admire, though, whether, certain, height, opposite) this morning. We worked to compile sentences using these words.
The Whole Numbers unit test was returned to students today. Please sign and return the test to school on Monday. I will be sending a Math markbook to your email that will include a detailed breakdown of your child's Math mark up until this point in the term.
We started the next unit in Math, Multiplication and Division, today as well. We are focusing some time on the Multiplication table as it is very important for your child's success in this unit to be fluent with their multiplication facts.
Thank you to those parents who brought items for our classroom lunch. It is greatly appreciated.
Have a safe Halloween!

October's month end assembly was held this morning. Congratualations to Jana for winning the 4-H coloring contest! Congratulations to all of the cross country runners who received their certificates today and to all of the bookfair award winners!
After assembly students completed the last day of this cycle's set of centers. All center activities are due tomorrow.
After lunch, both grade 5 classes combined for a guided writing activity. A few days ago we completed a graphic organizer based on a picture. Today, we took that graphic organizer and compiled a story as a whole group. The students did a wonderful job keeping their ideas organized. Our next step, will be to stretch our sentences and add details. We will publish our final story once we have completed these steps! I'm excited to see how our story is going to grow.
To finish off our day, we corrected yesterday's math assignment. We also discussed how to use estimation to check your answer. Students will be working with this concept in Math tomorrow.
MATH UNIT TEST: Thursday, October 29.
* We will not be popping popcorn tomorrow. We don't have enough "hands" to get the job done. We will save the popcorn for another day.
** I will not be in school for the next two days as I am at a workshop in Yorkton. If the blog is not updated, this is why. Please feel free to contact me through email if you have any questions.
