We completed Day 1 of a new set of Centers this morning.

Students had Science with Mrs. Gale after recess. We then had a half hour in the computer lab.

After lunch, we completed Math Pods. Station 1 had students playing Flipping Monsters and Fruity Flip Flop. At Station 2, students were asked to create a shape and translate it. We will use these shapes for a station tomorrow. At Station 3, we reviewed yesterday's assignment and continued to work on Page 298 (2,3,4).

To finish off the day, students had Phys Ed with Mr. Leidl.

We have completed the second day of our AFL this morning. One day left!! Great job so far Grade 5!

We will not be having Spelling words this week as the AFL has taken those class times away from us. We will have a new set of spelling words Tuesday, May 4.

Art, French, and Phys Ed. finished off the day for us today.

We started off our day with Centers.

After recess, we worked on completing our Narrative stories in Creative Writing.

Students finished off the morning in French.

After lunch, we completed Math Pods. At teacher table, Mrs. Gale and I reviewed the unit review with each student. Tomorrow is our unit test. At seat work, students played a geometry game as a group on the Smartboard. Students also had a chance to review any of the math games in their Geometry folder during the Computer station.

At the end of the day, we watched a short video on Henry Hudson to complete our Social Studies unit. Students will be getting a unit review shortly.

There has been a slight change in the AFL schedule. Students will start the assessment tomorrow morning. We will continue to write on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

Congratulations to those students who qualified for the Showcase Meet in Yorkton on April 30!

Great job yesterday Grade 5! You represented PJ Gillen very well! I am very proud of everyone!

We started off our Tuesday in Art with Mrs. Schentag.

Students then worked on Lesson 22 Spelling words (frequent, experience, department, attachment, decision, critcize, determine). Word processing of these are due for tomorrow.

After recess, students worked on their Geometry Unit review. The Unit test will be on Friday, April 23.

Geometry Slideshows!



Friday started with Day 4 of Centers. All Center activities will be collected on Monday.

Students then had an hour of Science with Mrs. Gale.

We wrote our spelling test before lunch and read the next two chapters in Hatchet.

After lunch, we watched the presentations that the students completed that included the various 3-D attributes. We also put the finishing touches on our 3-D attribute riddles. Students then had some time to work on pages 248/249 (2,3,6) where they practicing drawing 3-D shapes. We are nearing the end of our Geometry unit. We will have a unit test some time next week.

To finish up the week, we continued to work on our narrative, "Yikes! I've Changed Places With My Mom!"

Students also met with Mr. Leidle to discuss the track meet taking place on Monday. Students were provided a handout which details the times of their events.

* We are leaving Monday morning at 9:00 sharp. If you are a town student, please be at school by 8:45 to ensure we are able to leave on time!
* Remember to wear appropriate clothing and bring a lunch/water bottle. There is also a canteen available.

We completed Day 3 of Centers to start of our morning.

After recess, students were in the library with Mrs. Schentag.

We finished our day off with Math Pods. Students continued to work on their MovieMaker presentations of geometric attributes by adding sound. Students also worked to type out their Attribute Riddles and took pictures of their object if they didn't have a change yesterday. At teacher table, we worked on drawing 3-D shapes and will continue with this tomorrow.

April's monthly assembly was held this morning with some entertainment from some Grade 1 students!

We completed Day 3 of Centers this morning. Group one is working on a short story entitled, Sing to the Stars, while groups two, three, and four and reading a non-fictional story entitled Powwow.

We then spent some time adding details and working on word choice for a narrative writing piece the students are working on. Students have switched bodies with their moms! Stay tuned for the stories they have written! They are hilarious!!

After lunch, we completed Math Pods. One group of students worked with Mrs. Gale to complete a Movie of the pictures they took yesterday of a variety of 3-D attributes. Students added transition and wording to their movies. Once these are completed, I will post them to the blog for you to see! Students worked with me to review yesterday's assignment and to begin working on a 3-D attribute riddle. Students were able to review any of the math links that we have played previously at computers.

To finish off the day, students worked to complete their Expository writing pieces for Social. Some students have already posted them to the blog, others will come within the next few days.

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of school!!

We started off today with a new set of centers. This set of centers focuses primarily on Math and Writing.

After recess, students had Science with Mrs. Gale. We then worked on our Social Studies writing pieces during Computers.

We then completed a day of Math Pods. Students working at the computer had a choice of any of the activities that we have completed so far. At seat work, students were assigned 6,7,11,12 from page 236/237. At teacher table, we began discussing 3-D shapes and how we can use attributes to describe them. Students then went on an attribute hunt with the digital camera to find examples of some attributes that were provided.

Students finished off the day with Phys Ed.

Our day started out with Spelling. Students began Lesson 21 (bury, stair, dollar, fragile, favor, move, shown) by creating 7 sentences.

We then reviewed yesterday's math assignment as a group. Students then worked on pages 236-237 (3 and 5). We will review these when we get back after the break.

Students ended the day with French and Phys Ed.
