Another day has come and gone!
We started off our day watching the Math Video that was being "stubborn" for us yesterday. We watched The Born Numeracy to see examples of math in the real world.
We also took some time this morning to review our language arts centers. Please ask your child about this. Some students are switching classrooms and working in Mrs. Gale's room. We will explain this in more detail in our first classroom newsletter, as well a parent night that we will be hosting in September. We also reviewed the expectations for Spelling.
After recess, we completed Math pods. Station 1 had students working as a group to go on a "Math in the Real World" hunt. Students took the digital camera and took pictures around the school of math. We will be creating a short video similar to the Born Numeracy video we watched earlier in the day. Station 2 had students watch a short video on the computer, Patterns. At station 3, we worked on our first textbook assignment from page 8 (numbers 1 and 3).
We also started with our 6+1 Writing Traits. We compiled a list of ideas in our Seed Idea Lists that will help us build on later.
We also had our first Science class today. We talked about what we will be covering in our first unit, Weather, and started to work on our title pages.
In Social, we completed a worksheet on The Globe.
Have a great night everyone!!
