Rider Day!!

Great job Grade 5 in showing your Rider pride!!

Centers kicked off our Thursday morning. We completed Day 2 this morning with our Spelling Tests and TWAS.

After recess, students used a half hour to complete their RAFTS assignment. We then discussed Writing Leads. We looked at how authors use leads to begin their writing by using: dialogue, sounds, and questions. Students then went on a Lead hunt at the library to find children's books that have these writing features.

Our afternoon was filled with Math. We completed Math Pods. Our lesson was on using estimation with multiplication. The three strategies, Front End Rounding, Compensation, and Compatible Numbers, are very similar to when we used them for adding and subtracting estimations, except we are now multiplying. Mrs. Lippai worked with Front End Rounding, and I worked with the students with Compensation and Compatible Numbers. Students also worked at the computers to practice multiplying by mulitples of 10.

Our day finished off with Phys Ed and read aloud.

Have a great weekend everyone!! Enjoy the Grey Cup on Sunday!! GO RIDERS!
