Welcome back everyone! It was great to see everyone!! We got right back into the swing of things first thing this morning.

We completed Day 2 of Centers to start of our day.

After recess, we worked on our next reading comprehension strategy: Questioning/Seeking. We used the story, The Secret in the Matchbox, to help introduce this strategy. Students worked together as a whole group to come up questions that start with Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How pertaining to the story. We then read the story together and tried to seek the answers to our questions. Students then took this reading strategy into their Independent Reading books and tried to develop a set of questions to seek answers for as they read. Great job Grade 5!

After lunch, we worked in Math Pods. One group worked with me to continue with the Exemplar we started before break. Mrs. Gale's group worked on fraction representation. We will continue to work on this concept tomorrow. At computers, students played Dirtbike Fractions to help introduce Equivalent Fractions.

To finish up the day, we worked to complete our timelines. Students used the ReadWriteThink website to put on their finishing touches.

* We will be having our Spelling test tomorrow as we are not in school on Wednesday.

Reminders
We will be leaving Gillen at 9am on Wednesday morning. We will not return to Gillen until 8:30 to 9:00pm. Please arrange for someone to pick the students up.
